Simple Tips on How to Increase Fiber in the Diet

It is widely known that increasing fiber in the diet helps in improving the overall health as well as promoting weight loss.

Eating fiber gives a sense of fullness which decreases food consumption as well as overeating.

Here are some simple tips on how to increase fiber in the diet:

• If you’re fond of eating corn flakes at breakfast, you can try shifting to bran flakes with raisins. Through this, you are able to get about 25% of your dietary fiber needs for the entire day.

• Make it a habit to eat fruits often. Although fruit juice is healthy and contains a lot of vitamins; there is one important factor that is missing, which is fiber. Instead of drinking orange juice, you can opt to eat an orange. This will not only give you enough amount of fiber, it will also make you feel full.

• As much as possible, choose whole-grain bread. One slice of whole-grain bread contains several grams of fiber, while white bread doesn’t have any fiber at all.

• Another good source of fiber are beans. You should eat more beans or try adding them to various food preparations such as soups and salads.

• Instead of consuming white rice, its best to eat brown rice because it contains more fiber per serving.

These tips are helpful not only in increasing fiber intake, but also in losing weight as well.
